Membership
After living in Tanzania, India and England, Niyanta Spelman settled on making Austin, Texas her home. She blends entrepreneurial experience with civic involvement. After spending several years working for the Texas legislature, first as a legislative aide and then as an analyst with the Legislative Budget Board, Niyanta formed Performance Partnership, a public sector-oriented policy management consultancy in 2000. She has been active in her community, serving as President of the historic Hyde Park Neighborhood Association, Chairwoman of the Board of the Austin Asian-American Chamber of Commerce, and member of the City of Austin Zoning and Platting Commission and Planning Commission.
Niyanta holds a B.A. in Biology from the University of Texas at Dallas, and an M.P.Aff. from the LBJ School of Public Affairs, University of Texas at Austin. Niyanta enjoys traveling with her husband and two sons, and particularly enjoys taking them back to one of her many homes.
